They charged $1200 to survey a 0.79 acre raw land, just the boundaries. They didn't even put in stakes to mark out the portion of land that was in the water. When I asked them to do so, the lady rudely replied that they can't physically go into the lake to mark the boundaries. You don't need to mark the boundaries IN the water. You are supposed to mark 2 points on land so that you can "draw" a straight line out to the water, and indicate how many feet the property goes into the water. They refused and said I had to pay $185 an hour for them to go back to place the stakes. So yes, they did a survey on paper, but for the 2 contractors and the lake district people to figure out where to put in a retaining wall, the survey is useless. They said that surveyors usually mark the land (not just draw on paper) so that a person without surveying equipment can tell where the boundaries are. Their are 2 boundary edge points in the water, so 4 stakes were needed.
