Todd D. Wakefield began practicing law in Park City, Utah more than two decades ago. His law practice has focused on real estate (development, management, transactions and litigation), general corporate law for growing companies, sports and recreation industry law, and general civil and appellate litigation. He was previously with the Wrona Law Firm in Park City (now known as Wrona Gordon DuBois), and he was Of Counsel with the law firm of Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough, the largest law firm in the state of Utah. He began his legal career with Strachan & Strachan in Park City, a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated boutique firm specializing in complex litigation and ski and recreation industry law. Todd's legal experience also includes a 5 year assignment as General Counsel to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association and U.S. Ski Team (where he subsequently served as chairman of the USSA Judicial Council for more than a decade).
In 2000, Todd took time away from the practice of law to co-found Attensity Corporation (www.attensity.com), where he served as CEO and President through 2004, raising more than $20 million in funding for the fast-growing company. He was responsible for Attensity's strategic vision of unified analysis of text and structured data (now known as "text analytics"), which is widely used today by government intelligence and security agencies and Fortune 500 companies for a variety of purposes such as social media monitoring. In 2004, Information Management magazine published his article, A Perfect Storm is Brewing: Better Answers are Possible by Incorporating Unstructured Data Analysis Techniques, and he holds 6 U.S. software patents in the field of text analytics. In 2006, Todd was voted a Worldwide Reader Favorite by readers of Fast Company magazine in its Fast 50 Global Readers’ Challenge for his entrepreneurial contributions. In 2007, he founded and served for three years as CEO of NexTalk, Inc. (www.nextalk.com), providing internet based organizational telecommunication solutions serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Todd has been a Venture Partner with venture capital investment funds in the United States and Canada.
Todd received both his Juris Doctorate and his Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy, with honors, from the University of Utah, and has been admitted into Mensa. Todd and his wife of 25 years reside in the mountains of Park City, Utah with their 4 children.
