In June 2023 Blue Duchess Cattery in New Bloomfield, PA sold me a 10 month old cat that was suffering with FIP. The cat was displaying symptoms that any professional working with cats should/would have recognized. I believe Blue Duchess knowingly sold me a sick cat. FIP is contagious & fatal. There is a genetic element with FIP so any cat from Blue Duchess is at risk of contracting the disease. The owner has been made aware of the issue by more than one customer over the last few months. I do not believe she is working to address the problem. There are others leaving reviews with similar experiences. Please do a thorough internet search & you will find them. I was also less than impressed by the living conditions for the cats at Blue Duchess. Admittedly, a smarter person would've taken one look at this place & ran out the door. The whole space was dirty, cramped & poorly ventilated. She keeps her cats in cages. The cat I received had almost no muscle in his back legs. He was probably wasting away in a cage for months. In my opinion Blue Duchess is charging top-tier prices for what is essentially a kitty mill. Save yourself the heartache and avoid Blue Duchess Cattery.
