All Martial Arts are systems of combat which are practiced for many different reasons; self-defense, health & fitness, competition, and mental/personal development. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a form of martial arts that focused on grappling and using body positioning and leverage to control your opponent. Because of this, the typical advantages in a physical confrontation are negated. Size, reach and strength are no longer deciding factors when you are that close to your opponent.
