Located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, Animal Village NM is a nonprofit animal care facility that rescues and facilitates the adoption of cats and dogs previously confined to traditional animal control shelters. The facility’s seven-acre nature walk and grounds offer animal caregivers ample room and opportunity to exercise and socialize their animals. Further, Animal Village NM has recently set in place a low-cost spay and neuter program for cats and dogs, offering adopters and other pet owners additional resources to address overpopulation. Other services include training programs for both adopted dogs and puppies and K9s not adopted through the organization. Free for those who have gone through the Animal Village NM adoption process, the three-week session is $45 for other pet owners. The nonprofit also administers a Pet Food Program to assist individuals and food banks with donations of free pet food. Upcoming additions to the facility include an enclosed space to hold pet-friendly functions like weddings and other large gatherings. Proceeds from the space will go to further the facility’s mission of rescuing cats and dogs and uniting them with responsible forever families.
