Holly J. Brown, LAC, is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist, and Herbalist and has been a primary care practitioner for 12 years. She attended the University of South Florida for her undergraduate degree and graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, in 2003. She is board certified with the NCCAOM. She practices in Brunswick and Bath, Maine.
Holly provides expertise in treating patients of all ages in preventative healthcare, acute care, and chronic disease management. It is her mission to provide patients with options in order for them to make empowered and educated choices for themselves and their children’s health. ”People are thrilled when they learn that, quite often, medications and other invasive procedures can be avoided with the timely use of natural medicine.”
Her practice philosophy is to provide complete, compassionate, individualized healthcare. She does this through the use of acupuncture, herbs, nutrition and lifestyle modification.
A major focus of Holly’s work is the study of the human microbiome, gastrointestinal system, and auto-immune disease. In her clinical practice, she has found that many issues relate back to the gut, specifically bacterial imbalance, absorption, and the functioning of the organs of excretion. She is well versed in the use of stool analysis, providing her the opportunity to interpret the influence of organisms as well as the functional aspects of the digestive system on all manners of human physiology including immunity, inflammation, neurotransmitter production, absorption of vitamins and minerals, and biliary function. Through this analysis, she is better able to diagnose and treat a wide array of issues as well as play a dramatic role in the prevention of disease and the long term picture of health.
Holly’s unique, complimentary-based education in both eastern and western medical perspectives has provided her with the ability to thoroughly evaluate all body systems and how they function together as a whole. She has extensive advanced trainings and clinical experience in pediatrics, gynecology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurobiology, dermatology, infertility, hormonal issues, osteoporosis, liver disease, diabetes and pain management.
Holly, her husband, and their two young daughters relocated from Florida in 2013. They are thrilled to be raising their children in Brunswick, Maine.
