Over time, the demand for this type of lodging & accommodations started to gain popularity from both the out of town renter and Louisville resident. We were intrigued on why renting from the local residents became so popular so fast. Our research showed that not only were the renters saving money, but more importantly, they were experiencing Derby in a way that brought them closer to the city, its locals and Southern Hospitality that they never received in traditional lodging. They were able to see more of the city and truly started to fall in love with Louisville, it's residents and unique qualities which makes the City of Louisville a one of a kind. On the flip side, the Louisville residents whom rent out their homes have also fallen back in love with the city and Derby festivities. It sparked interest in the local scene and all the events leading up to Derby. Finding themselves more engaged with the community, it brought them excitement and pride to share with their new guests all the City of Louisville has to offer them during their stay. Those whom advertise and rent their homes for Derby tend to place some of the money they receive from renting back into the local community. Knowing more effort taken to accommodate their guests can potentially help them rent their residence again the following year, many advertisers contact local business to clean, maintain, repair and decorate their homes. Local business whom would not have received the business otherwise.
