Over the past 30 years the expansion of the global marketplace has made the art of negotiation more complex. There are often fewer vendors in a supply chain and the old methods of price-focused negotiation are not as effective (for sales or procurement professionals) as they once were. The Mobus Creative Negotiating method is based on two obvious but under-appreciated truths. First, business-to-business negotiation is not simply an economic activity. It is a human-to-human interaction and human beings are not always rational economic actors. Therefore, modern negotiating strategies require creativity. They are more complex and frequently they are repetitive. Secondly, all negotiations are not the same. Negotiating at a market in Shanghai is different from negotiating with a long-term supplier or customer.
