Public Service Announcement to warn others about a con artist posing as a business owner. My husband and I hired DM Landscaping LLC (David Murray owner) to complete a patio in our backyard. We signed a contract in early April 2022 and paid half the total cost upfront for materials. He promised that the job would be completed within 8-10 days. He would only work 1-2 days per week for a few hours each day. The work he did complete was not to industry standards for base depth and base material used. He tried to use recycled gravel as a base material. He only ordered a quarter of the materials and never finished installing what he had delivered. Then he took a week vacation during the project and promised to have another man help work on the patio. No one ever showed up. When asked why he couldn't work more hours or days of the week, his excuse was that he is a single father. Fast forward to late May 2022. He told us someone broke into his shop and took his trailer and checks, claiming that they wiped out his account. He then said that he would need the rest of the money to complete the job but was unwilling or unable to offer proof of said story. We tried to work with him but were not willing to pay the remaining cost when only 1/4 of the job had been completed (poorly at that). We ended up hiring another contractor to complete the job and they had to redo the work he did.
