He left the classical guitar behind, though he still writes and plays music, and studied the art of jewelry at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle. Although Karl mostly designs and handcrafts jewelry, he's also a muralist and has been commissioned to do sculptural projects (mostly in metal) locally and nationally (he designed and produced "Tommy Bahamas" golf tournaments trophy).
