I’m not upset, just a disappointed out-of-state buyer. D&C were challenging to deal with from the very start. I’m stationed on the East Coast, in VA. Without being able to physically go into the dealership I was at a disadvantage. The staff didn’t seem to respect me or my unique needs. The short version of my review; the staff of D&C do it their way, they take their time doing it, and the people I worked with were not forthcoming about problems, however minor, with the car I bought. After initially discussing the particulars of the Audi SQ5 I found on their website, I requested that a pre purchase inspection be done by an Audi service technician. My salesperson disallowed taking the vehicle to an Audi dealership before their guy looked at it, “to avoid any surprises.” Their own mechanics did an inspection, and discovered the water pump was broken. I asked that the vehicle still receive an inspection as requested. Who knows what other “surprises” we’ll find. I was told that the vehicle was, “already in pieces“ and couldn’t be delivered to Audi for a PPI. The repairs would take four days to receive parts and complete the necessary work. I informed them that any serious delay would not work for me. My previous vehicle had been totaled and the insurance company would only cover my rental a few more days. The insurance company stopped paying on 10/09 and I began paying $30/day for my rental. I talked to more than one member of the team over the weeks, trying to get updates since no one would call me proactively. D&C team members continually dragged their feet and showed no sense of urgency in getting the vehicle to me promptly. To their credit, as compensation for the delay, the dealership covered transportation from Oregon to Virginia. I had been price shopping and this would have come out to about $1200-1500. Lastly, and I take partial responsibility for this, but they did not disclose any of of the numerous scratches, bumper gouges, or the two rock chips in the windshield. The vehicle did not have a manual or an extra key, which I’m I’m not as bothered by honestly. But their failure to mention a missing $400 key is worth noting. I believe a fair dealer would have ensured I was informed. This illustrates that they didn’t tell me anything was wrong with the car ahead of time. I had to find it out for myself at each juncture. Imagine if I hadn’t requested an inspection. I’m not trying to nitpick. With all the other glowing reviews this company has, I feel like I’m being a Karen. But this was truly an unpleasant buying experience. I attempted to pull off a touchless auto purchases - which is very common during the pandemic - and it went miserably. D&C mishandled the whole affair. Oh, and be aware that they will charge for some sort of security add on that they insist is mandatory. It’s like $500 or $500. I told them I didn’t want it but was told it’s not optional. In all, from purchasing the vehicle on 10/02/20, I did not receive my car until 10/22/20. I really do love my SQ5 I t’s in great shape - besides the damage I mentioned. It’s the car I searched all over the country for and it was in one of the best collections of cars on the West Coast. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
