Penny helped design my art painting studio. We covered all of the elements most important to me, the criteria important to my husband, everything necessary to get it approved by the city for construction, and the plans needed for clear communication with our contractor.
The building needed to be as tall with high windows to allow as much northern light as possible. I needed lighting alternatives including special painting lights and display lighting. Air flow was considered through the window placements. I also needed hidden storage for canvases and art supplies.
Penny researched our city’s building code and site setback requirements. She helped select the site on our property and designed the building to fit architecturally with the exterior of the other building in the back yard. There were special footing requirements as the city required a technically “non-permanent” structure.
Within a few of days of our initial meeting she had prepared a couple of preliminary designs. After a few minor changes Penny prepared the drawings for submission to the city including a Site, Foundation, Floor, Electrical and Roof Plans. She provided the essentials documents need to implement my vision and clearly communicate my project to the contractor and the city.
The city was pleased with the plans Penny created. Our contractor was pleased with the detail and thoroughness of the completed plan set. Construction and inspections went smoothly.
