I adopted a kitten roughly two months ago. unfortunately she's has nothing but issues since we've gotten her that were due to the lack of care in this shelter. The day after I brought her home I noticed her covered in fleas. It's not in her paperwork that she was ever treated for it, but the shelter insisted she was. Then she had some sort of eye infection about a week later. Eye drops for her were not helping. Then she had rapid hair loss on multiple areas of her body that soon became open, bleeding wounds. My vet was finally able to test for a specific, rare parasite that is only contracted from skin to skin contact with another cat who has it - my vet has not seen this parasite in 10+ years and never in south Florida. She is now undergoing a 6-9 WEEK treatment that is not 100% guaranteed to work, and is also very scary for the cat. My vet contacted the shelter about the parasite and they never returned his call. I left a poor FB review, and they told me that I was wrong, couldn't have come from there, my review would hinder other adoptions, & that I shouldn't have waited so long to contact them. well this is how long it's taken to figure out. This shelter was unable to hold themselves accountable, and couldn't even apologize. I urge you to adopt elsewhere unless you're seeking cats who may have similar or worse issues.
