Great place to learn self defense and have fun doing it!
A true "family" karate studio. I train with my son Conor. I think all the instructors have a great balance between teaching and training the skills of self defense and making it fun. Conor also likes being with the other kids. They work together and help each other. I get to do something on a regular basis with my son, I get a good workout, and learn self defense. I have limited range of motion in my legs, so I was concerned about being able to do this. The instructors have shown me how I can effectively execute a technique and defend myself even with my physical limitations. The adults who train are supportive and encouraging of one another.
If you or your child is interested in learning self defense, this is definitely a place to check out. It is hard to describe, so I would encourage you to come by and see for yourself.

My eleven year old son and I have trained together at The Empty Hand and its predecessor incarnation at the Y since 2009. The owner and assistants are all fantastic instructors; knowledgeable, skilled and patient- especially with kids. Also, having the flexibility to take classes on any of 6 days each week is very convenient with my busy work schedule and all of my son's other activities.
I think the Empty Hand really distinguishes itself from many other martial arts studios by encouraging families to participate together. There are plenty of students who train independently, but the owner especially encourages families to learn together. For those of us that do, martial arts training also doubles as family time.
The kids also enjoy some occasional non-karate activities such as "fun days", holiday parties and movie nights.
I whole-heartedly recommend the Empty Hand if you or your kids are interested in martial arts training.
