XxxIn November 2014, we bought two Yorky puppies from Michelle and Mark Gaynor doing business as Rhode Island Husky and Yorky Puppies, in Newport Rhode Island. They have a comprehensive website: RHODEISLANDHUSKYANDYORKIEPUPPIES.COM. They represent their puppies as pure bred. Our two puppies are from the same father but different mothers. When we picked them up,the female was eight weeks old and the male was less than seven weeks old. It is documented on the website that the parents for each dog are approximately 3 pounds each. Currently the dogs are 22 and 23 weeks old and both are over 4 pounds with approximate Adult weights of 5 to 6 1/2 pounds. We received the paperwork for the female for ACA certification. We never received paperwork for the male, however Michelle said she would reorder it and send it and never did. We became suspicious of their genetics at this point so we had them both genetically tested. The test results came back for the female, she is 75% Yorkie and 25% mix breed with a very high prevalence of Min Pin. The test results for the male came back at 75% Yorkie and 25% Maltese, crossbreed. We contacted Michelle and let her know that we have the genetic test results for the two dogs and they are not 100% purebred Yorkie as represented . We paid $1600 both dogs. We asked for an $800 refund. $400 each for mixed breed dogs is more than a reasonable price. We gave them over a month to respond and have not heard back from them at all.
