Plainly, Farina and Sons landscaping was one of the worst experiences I have had. We booked him for a large backyard remodel in November. Said he would start as soon as the weather broke, his guys are "antsy" to start, and we were his first project of the season. Fast forward to Spring 2023, to when the project should already have been started... crickets. Describing it as terrible communication is not even sufficient. On a few occasions, we would go 3 weeks waiting on a simple TEXT message answer... and there were always excuses abound. Having designed the entire project ourselves, down to the CAD drawings to scale, it's not like we were asking for a lot. We just needed the hands to execute our layout and help guide us with their experience. After many forgotten appointments for demo and pitiful communication about what's going on, we decided this wasn't working and backed out before it got too far. Frank decided to take the $1000 deposit we gave him and send us an invoice, aka nickel and dime us, for nearly $900. I wish we were made aware at any point that, had we decided to change our minds at any point, he bills for text messages and phone calls simply regarding his quote. As an example, he billed $110 to have a line item removed from the invoice as WE procured the material ourselves, by our own devices and research. Simple phone calls are approx. $45, too. I know quoting takes time however making customers well aware of your policies at many points in the process is basic business. We are thankful now to have not had started the project as there's no wonder as to what would've unfolded. Here we are over a month later and $0 has been returned to us and it's just like before, excuse after excuse. Instead of holding my breath and waiting longer, I figured I'd write a review to hopefully save at least one other person the hassle of dealing with this. Over-promised on everything and no delivery, nevermind under-deliver. The very second he had our deposit everything changed. To anyone looking for a landscaper, believe what you read, hear, and see... keep looking.
