Honolulu Dance Studio (HDS) began in 1986 with nine (9) elementary school girls directed by Cathy Izumi. They teamed together as a performing company (Honolulu Gurlz Dance Company) based at Danceworks Studio in Kaimuki. In 5 years the dance program expanded to include several Divisions-Keiki, Junior, Teen, Senior, Adult and Professional.
