All teachers are background screened and have completed 40 hours or more of childcare training, early literacy training as well as being trained in First Aid and CPR. Gymnastics is included in our tuition for children aged 2-5.

Once Upon A Time Preschool/Daycare is located in Putnam Valley, NY but services both Westchester and Putnam Counties including Cortlandt Manor, Garrison, Mahopac, Peekskill, Yorktown and Putnam Valley. We provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. We offer a "Back to Basics" approach. The most important service we can offer your child is one of comfort. It has been proven time and again that a child cannot learn unless they feel comfortable not only in their surroundings but from the nurturing and care offered by the staff. Each child is treated as a unique individual with their own special gifts reminding us on a daily basis that the "cookie cutter" concept is not one that we subscribe to.

Our philosophy is focused on goals to help the child discover a way of life rather than learning a given body of material. The curriculum will include those elements which will enable children to discover who they are and within limits appropriate to the developmental age, learn patterns of behavior that are socially acceptable to peers and adults. Emphasis will be placed on self-development and discovery through process art, music, and dramatic play. Children will have the chance to learn more about their world through experiences with colors, shapes, numbers, foods, textures, stories, pets, plants, sand, and water to name a few. We strive to maintain a relaxed, supportive atmosphere in which children can gain self-confidence and have a happy and successful introduction to the school experience.
