I grew up gardening, everywhere we lived my parents would grow a garden. Sometimes they were very small, other times very large. We always had fresh grown garden vegetables on the table. My mother grew up on a farm in the Missouri Valley of Iowa and seemed to have this magic with growing plants. It never looked as though she worked at it, just seemed to come naturally. If we wanted something for a meal or a snack we would just go out and pick it. Fresh carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, you name it we picked it fresh.....most never made it to the table, we ate it right there in the garden. Later I earned my Degree in Agriculture, Plant and Fruit production from a Salem, Oregon College; unfortunately I went on to become a hotel manager and accountant, leaving my agricultural degree to go wasted.
