The Butterfly Pavilion combines science education with interactive fun to teach visitors about invertebrates and conservation. Our five immersive exhibits, including our rainforest filled with 1,200 free-flying tropical butterflies, provide a year-round, unforgettable experience. Visitors can get up close and personal with live animals, enjoy daily educational programs, explore the wonder of the outdoors on the nature trail, and discover the newest traveling exhibit. Butterflies are just the beginning.

The Preserve is a compelling family attraction for Maryland and the adjacent areas of Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Additionally we are a major economic driver for our region, providing a combined total of over 45 full-time and seasonal jobs attracting tens of thousands of visitors. Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo brings people and animals together in a safe, relaxed, personal and all natural atmosphere. Native wildlife and beautiful plants surround you in this fifty acre, over 500 exotic animal preserve.  CWPZoo is under the management of Global Wildlife Trust, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of wild animals worldwide and conservation of all our natural resources locally.
