The Yamamura Farm grew mainly Pineapple in the Haiku area from 1976 till 2009. Started by Mitsugi Yamamura and his sons and grandsons .The farm would eventually grow 575 acres in Haiku from Kokomo road down along Hana Highway out towards Oili Road Lower Ulumalu road and all down North Holokai road in Peahi.
There pineapples were mainly for juicing and for canning . Contracted with Maui Pineapple Company. All the fruit were processed in the Kahului Cannery .
They would later start growing fresh fruit which was the Maui Gold variety . They were also known to grow the highly desirable “white “ top or sugar loaf pineapple .
Buisness came to a sad end in 2009 when Maui Pineapple Company refused to renew the contract to produce the Fresh fruit . They were the very last and largest Private Family Pineapple farm in the state.
