In keeping with its legacy as the audiophile venue that Les Paul called home for over 14 years, The Iridium has undergone a substantial upgrade of its stage and sound system.
With renovations totaling $150,000, including a unique lighting and stage treatment designed by Abigail Rosen, The Iridium initially debuted its new look in September 2015 welcoming back Front and Center, public television's critically-acclaimed music series, for the filming of four all-new episodes. These initial Front and Center tapings featured performances by singer-songwriter BØRNS, iconic pianist and five-time Grammy Award nominee Joe Jackson, Platinum selling Country star Kip Moore and British singer-songwriter George Ezra.

This portal attempts to estimate the number of casualties and refugees in order to answer the question of our Mission. It is worth mentioning that the ethnic cleansing of non-Muslims, attack on places of worship (mandirs, churches, and temples), homes and livelihood, and confiscation of their homesteads through the Enemy Property Act by declaring non-Muslims as Enemies of State, continued unabated since the days of Noakhali Danga pogrom. Even during the rule of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (1971-1975), known as the Father of the Bengali Nation, complete security for lives of minority populations did not return. Shiekh Mujibur Rahman compromised with intolerant, anti-secular groups by keeping the inhumane and unjust Enemy Property Act active with a different name — Vested Property Act, and by completely destroying the millennium-old Ramna Kali Mandir temple and adjoining Ma Anandamoyee Ashram which were demolished by Pakistan Army and her Bengali Islamist allies during the Bangladesh independence war.
In Bengal, as in much of the Indian Subcontinent, there is a taboo in discussing the plight of minorities and researching the whereabouts of the missing population of minorities. The ISPaD Project attempts to break that taboo and tries to estimate the status of minorities in Bangladesh – the East Bengal of the erstwhile Bengal Province of British-ruled-India AND to answer the all too frequently asked question: Where have my people gone?

The Columbia County Historical Society is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the interpretation and preservation of the history and culture of Columbia County, New York.
It is the goal of CCHS to encourage understanding, knowledge, and preservation of the County's heritage through the acquisition and conservation of historic architecture and properties, objects and documents, and through the sponsorship of research, publications, exhibitions, and educational programs.
To help achieve its mission, the CCHS owns, maintains, and interprets collections and buildings of historical significance, and operates a museum and extensive research library.

Education programs for adults, schooltrips for children, public tours and exhibits at all four historic properties and our award-winning magazine, 'Columbia County History & Heritage' together present a centennial accomplishment and describe 100 years of preserving our stories.

JCAL Mission
Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL) is a non-profit organization that offers visual, performing and literary arts, arts education and artists’ programs to encourage participation in the arts and to contribute to the cultural enrichment of Queens and the Greater Metropolitan area.
A Moment in JCAL History
Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning is a multidisciplinary urban arts center located in the diverse community of Southeast Queens. More than 25,000 people of all ages and backgrounds participate in our wide array of education, performing arts, and visual arts programs annually.
JCAL was founded in 1972 as part of a large-scale effort to revitalize the declining Jamaica business district. Downtown Jamaica, like many neighborhoods across the United States, experienced a long period of decline in the 1960s. In 1967, local artists, business leaders and community members came together to restore the decaying commercial corridor along Jamaica Avenue. They acquired the abandoned Queens Register of Titles and Deeds Building – a New York landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places – and transformed it into an urban cultural center that would serve as a symbol of Jamaica’s reawakening and act as a magnet for businesses, shoppers, and residents returning to the downtown area.
Today, the Center’s neo-Renaissance building features a 1,650 square foot visual arts gallery, a 99-seat proscenium theater, three painting and three dance studios, a ceramics studio, a computer lab, and a newly renovated music studio. Our programs for children, teens, and adults include a multicultural series of music, theater, and dance performances; film screenings and lectures; contemporary visual arts exhibitions; in-school artist residencies; a series of nearly 50 different arts workshops; and free or low-cost after-school and summer programs.
JCAL receives ongoing operating support from the Mayor's Office, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Programmatic support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Queens Delegation of the New York City Council, and Councilman I. Daneek Miller. Foundation support from Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Corporate support from the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, and many individuals and volunteers.
