Whibco, Inc. was founded in 1841 and is America's first producer of sand for use in the metal casting industry. Since 2004, all sand and gravel mining and operations have been conducted through Whibco of New Jersey, Inc. ("Whibco") Whibco produces a wide variety of industrial sands and fine construction aggregates. Industrial markets include foundries, grout, roof shingle manufacturing, recreational sands, fillers, and most recently hydraulic fracturing sands (or "proppants") to service the rapidly expanding Marcellus shale natural gas exploration and mining. Construction markets include concrete sands, gravels, septic sand, fill, and numerous other grades used in road and infrastructure construction. Whibco's headquarters is in Bridgeton, NJ, with mining operations in Port Elizabeth and Dorchester, Cumberland County, NJ. Whibco also has mining properties in South Carolina and New York.
