would like to introduce you to the work of the Books to Prisons Project, Alabama. The D. C. Area Books to Prisons Project has sustained regular mailings of books to inmates all over the U. S. since 1999. The Project provides free (donated) reading material in response to inmates' letters. We learned of the Project when a member's son moved from Washington, D. C., back to Tuscaloosa after having volunteered with them. Several of us were moved by the simplicity and humility of the project and were spurred to help out upon learning they had a backlog of letters.
