We are a family owned and operated auction company right here in Ohio. The company was founded in 2011 by Randy Broerman (dad), Melissa Rue (mom), and Randy Rue (son). Randy was a painter for most of his life, that is until he met Melissa. Melissa put herself through college learning the antiques and collectibles trade. In fact, she became so good at it that she supported a family of five for many years. After graduating college, Melissa taught school for several years but eventually made it back to her true passion of buying and selling antiques. For over 25 years Melissa has been a well known antiques dealer in southern Ohio. When she met Randy (dad) she began to teach him the trade. She had no idea what she was getting herself into. Randy has spent the past 10 years learning anything and everything about the business. He even knows more about certain niches than Melissa (but we won't tell her that). Little Randy was a young apprentice to his mother. Being a poor college kid with no time to work a full time job was financially difficult. Melissa sent Randy $200 and told him to start buying and selling. After all, he had been around it his entire life and knew a decent amount about the business. Randy turned his $200 into $2000 by finding a rare doll that he remembered his mom once had. Needless to say, he was hooked. Meanwhile, after being truly engulfed with a passion to do something bigger than painting and selling on the side, Randy and Melissa decided they wanted to start a family business that would be there for their kids and their grand kids. The auction business is pretty common here in Ohio but they wanted to do something different. Something Better. They came to little Randy and asked if he could build an auction website where people could bid online then come pick the things up when the auction was over. Three months later, RMR Auctions was born. You will often see Randy (dad) Melissa (mom), Ashley (daughter), Heather (daughter), and Brandon (son-in-law) at the Wilmington location. And if you're really lucky you might catch baby Bentley, Owen, or Joel (grandsons). Little Randy runs the northern Ohio auctions with help from several great additions to our family. We all pitch in in one way or another. We are truly blessed to have made it this far and we plan on continuing to grow as a business and a family.
