In the state of Vermont, payday loans, often referred to as short-term, high-interest loans, are illegal under the Small Loan Act.
This regulation, enacted by the Vermont Legislature, prohibits lenders from offering payday loans with exorbitant interest rates and predatory terms. As a result, Vermont residents are spared from the burden of exorbitant fees and interest rates that can trap borrowers in debt. According to the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation, there were zero licensed payday lenders in the state as of the latest data available.

Category: A WAY WITH WORDS
Ever since I was 19 I have always been looking for a way to be my own boss. I always had some new idea and shared it with everyone that I knew. Everyday I was trying to sell something to someone. It didn't matter if it was my boss,(Dr. John Moore or his wife Marilyn Moore) , a fellow co-worker, or a customer. One day I came to work at Moore Vet Clinic with a catalog and at the moment I greeted him (my boss) he said good morning "The Business Man", at that present moment everyone of my fellow co-workers started to laugh. That was the moment I knew what I would call my business, I liked the name and when filling out my trade name I was hopping it was available and it was. I could not wait to get my Business License so I can show everyone at the office. When the day came to obtain my license I took an extended lunch break to go to The Licensing And Consumer Affairs Office. When I arrived back to work I couldn't wait to show everyone my business license. They laughed at the name but I was proud of it . I am now 41 and I am still proud of the name on my business license "The Business Man".
