In 1978 AGV USA, a division of Intersport, Inc. in Maryland became the official importer of AGV Helmets for the United States. In 1985 AGV SpA (AGV Helmets, Italy) assumed ownership of this distribution and Intersport, Inc. was licensed the right to make apparel and other products excluding helmets worldwide bearing the AGV name and trademark. By 1990 the name AGV Sport or AGVSPORT was being used on all apparel items including leather gloves, suits, jackets, boots, and textile garments and AGV Sports Group, Inc. was formed. For a brief period in the early 1990's AGV SpA owned approximately half of AGV Sports Group, Inc. During the 1990's AGV SpA was sold several times and went through a number of mergers and acquisitions. In 2001 AGV SpA recognized formally that AGVSPORT was in fact an in
