The Avakian family entered the Oriental Rug business in 1877. One hundred years later, my mother started Barbara Avakian Oriental Rugs in Delaware. After her passing in 2000, Lucille Avakian Oriental Rugs was born. Generally, I meet with a client in their home where I evaluate the situation. Then I gather a personalized selection Oriental Rugs for the client. The next step is showing the rugs on location in the client's home. I often suggest that the client keep any perspective rugs on consignment for a couple of days. This enables the client to compare rugs and see them at different times of day, etc. There is no obligation for the client to buy a rug. My motto is, "I don't wish to sell an Oriental Rug to you, I wish to find and Oriental Rug for you that you wish to buy.
