Clair Tappaan Lodge, our rustic lodging near Lake Tahoe, CA, is nestled in woods on the historic Donner Pass. This 1930s casual lodge is 3 miles from Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, 7 miles from Donner Pass, and 25 miles from Tahoe City. Rustic mixed and single dorms offer bunk beds and shared bathrooms. Private sleeps up to 12 people. Linens and towels are available for a fee. Communal meals are served in a woodsy dining room; sack lunches are available. There's a living room with a fireplace, as well as a library, a game room, and a hot tub.

Quiet, comfortable and unpretentious, Kit Carson Lodge has been providing a superb Silver Lake Lodge experience in the Sierras for over 95 years. Decade after decade the Lodge has remained timeless, unfailingly maintaining its traditional atmosphere through the years. Rustic and elegant, our Silver Lake Resort allows guests to feel welcome from the moment they arrive. Kit Carson is a seasonal resort open from the first Friday in June till the early October.

A Brief History of the Narrow Gauge Inn
Built in1952, originally named the Swiss Melody Inn, the Narrow Gauge Inn was built by Swedish immigrants, Rudy and Luce Stauffer. The Stauffer family also purchased and restored the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. The railroad remains in operation to this day and is easily accessible by a walking trail that joins the two properties. The Stauffer's eventually sold the Narrow Gauge Inn to focus on the railroad operation. The second owner George Cordingly renamed the inn, Narrow Gauge Inn to honor the neighboring railroad.
