The building of Brick and Bedford is designed in an Academic Georgian style. Shaw was built in 1939, by William Gehron. The building is named in honor of Denison's 12th President Avery A. Shaw and his wife. Avery Shaw took office in 1927 and deftly shepherded the college through the Great Depression until 1930.

Brown Hall is an apartment-style residence hall for seniors located on North Quad at Denison University, named after President Kenneth Brown. The four Sunsets, identical in design, house upper-class students in apartment-style suites. Full kitchens were added to the suites in 2001. Originally named Sunset A, B, C, and D the Sunset Apartments were renamed in 2012 after past Denison presidents.

Upper Elm is an apartment-style residence hall for senior students located on the North Quad of Denison University. Initially, the four new residence halls were called Upper and Lower Elm and Upper and Lower Maple, with the notion that those names could change at the behest of significant donor support. Thanks to an anonymous gift in the Spring of 2006, Upper and Lower Maple were renamed Hayes and Wright Halls, respectively.

Bancroft House is a residential community at Denison University for six individuals located near the East Gate. The building is named for Ashley Bancroft, an active abolitionist and the first meeting of the Ohio State Anti-Slavery Society was held in his home. The house was also a station on the Underground Railroad and early childhood home of Hubert Howe Bancroft, Ashley's son who is also a renowned Pacific Coast historian. The home was part of the Deeds Purchase of 1917.

Built in 1925, Sawyer Hall is a residential community with single, double, and suite-style rooms on East Quad of Denison University. Named for Charles Sawyer, founder of the Granville Female Seminary of 1832, which would become part of Shepardson College and later Denison. Sawyer also served as trustee to the Granville Literary and Theological Institution (later Denison) from 1831 to 1837.
