Why Appalachian Hula Academy of Ohio? Located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Zanesville, Ohio near the Muskingum and Licking rivers our name was chosen to honor the area our halau is fortunate to be located. At one time a large portion of the Appalachian area had been extremely lush and verdant much like Hawai'i. Appalachian Hula Academy of Ohio is dedicated to perpetuating the traditions, culture, language, music and histories of the Hawaiian people and hula through education and performance. As the art and grace of the hula contains much mana'o (knowledge). You will find the experience of hula halau to be welcoming, wholesome, uplifting and fun. The Dance Clinic offers the best dance instruction in ballroom, performance, competition, and social dance lessons in Toledo, Ohio. We opened our doors in September 2009. The community has been very generous and trusting of our dancing instruction and technique. At The 8th Count we love to dance! We offer lots of dance and fitness classes such as: clogging, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tiny tot, ballroom, hard core cardio, pilates, beginner & senior fitness and Zumba! We are also home to the Walnut Hill Cloggers, who compete and perform all over Northeast Ohio.
