Established in 2009 The New Collective LA was founded in October of 2009 by Matthew Word and Greg Braun with a mission to provide the professional actor with a full service conservatory program that satisfies the work ethic and training demanded by the film and television industry in Los Angeles. The New Collective LA also aims to inspire, challenge and support the actor in every aspect of their journey. We believe that the art of acting can change the world! As the great pioneer of the American Theater, Harold Clurman said: "We are the people who can create the new world!"

With over a decade of outstanding experience; our professional and quality team of enthusiastic educators will provide an environment of learning, discovery and enrichment. We offer a variety of programs to suit your needs: Chinese Calligraphy, Rockhound Adventure, Salsa and Latin Dance, Chinese Paper Lanterns, Origami, Recycle Paper Art, Leaf Rubbings & Stamp Art, and more. Programs are suitable for libraries, schools, senior centers, community and city functions, private parties and corporate events. Single and weekly programs available.

Founded in 1985, STAR is one of the best programs available to South County young people who want to experience theatre performance and video arts programs. In 2014, STAR was voted by Out & About Magazine readers as the "Best Summer Activity Camp." STAR offers Saturday workshops in the Spring and Fall, and multiple-week, full-day Summer programs. Our STAR staff has provided safe spaces for children to express themselves creatively; transforming hundreds of children's lives by helping to boost their confidence and poise; encouraging their creative spirits; and teaching them collaboration, teamwork, and respect. We believe it is a testament to the success of the program that so many of our "STAR kids" have returned to the program to become STAR leaders.

Focusing on scene study, classes emphasize getting actors out of their heads and into their bodies and instincts by encouraging students to use any and all techniques that will allow them to bring truth, personalization, and ease to the part. As the Co-Owner and Co-Casting Director of Dream Big Casting, Dan Velez brings a valuable casting eye to the classroom that gives students a beneficial perspective to their work. Dan has auditioned and worked with thousands of actors in his years of casting; however, his passion lies in the craft of acting itself and is thrilled to now be able to work with actors on a more personal and specific level.
