Our name Basaltic Garlic Farm comes from the basaltic rock lava flows originating from Lava Beds National Park in Northern California. The lava flowed down into the surrounding valleys spreading over a large area, nearly reaching the central valley, a distance of about 100 miles. Over millions of years, pockets of land formed into fertile sandy loam soils perfect for Garlic growing. While waiting for the wildfire insurance company to do its job, we had the opportunity to seek out a new way of doing business. We already have much farming experience on a smaller scale, and our new land will provide us a way to grow. So we are very excited to become 100% organic farmers. We are in our fifth yr of organic farming, and the 2022 crop is the best yet. We witness the benefits of cover crops that produce fantastic garlic. We can now grow 13 different types of garlic available in our online store for the 2023 organic crop.

Clairmont Farms is a family owned lavender farm located at 2480 Roblar Avenue, Los Olivos, California in the Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara County. We have five acres of Grosso variety lavender, which is the most potent variety and yields the most oil upon distillation. The fields are breathtakingly beautiful with the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Three hundred year old oak trees dot the grounds, and the driveway is lined with olive trees that were planted by the Spanish Missionaries over 180 years ago. Videographers, photographers and painters come each year and apply their craft, especially during the peak bloom. Our main field blooms from mid June to mid to late July. The exact time of the peak bloom varies from year to year with the weather. Just as one would suspect, warm weather in the spring will encourage an earlier bloom. Very hot weather during the bloom will cause it to accelerate, and cool and foggy weather will help extend it. Red Dog Ranch, located on the beautiful North Coast of California just one mile from the Pacific Ocean. This 30 acre ranch sits literally on the San Andreas Fault and borders the Gualala River. Seasonal rains flood the river & fields bringing in new top soil each year. Three natural springs supply the fields with pure, virgin water from the Sierras. The ranch at one point was the only dairy and supplier of fresh vegetables on the Mendonoma (Mendocino/Sonoma) coast, and after 150 years ...it still supplies the local community.
