Water new sod heavily for three weeks everyday. 2. Stay off your new sod. Treat it like a house plant. 3. After three weeks you can mow it for the first time. It will be high, sometimes as high as 12 inches. Please mow it on your mowers highest setting and pick up all grass clippings for the first 4 cuttings.
