Hypoxyprobe, Inc., a spin off of the Hypoxyprobe Division of Natural Pharmacia International, Inc (NPI), was set up to streamline the development and marketing of nitroimidazole hypoxia markers and therapeutics with an emphasis on patented, weakly basic, water soluble nitroimidazoles that include the lead compound, pimonidazole HCl. Hypoxyprobe, Inc. sells Kits for the immunohistochemical detection of hypoxia (see the Hypoxyprobe Store link at the top of the www.hypoxyprobe.com homepage) and is developing PET reagents for the non-invasive detection of tissue hypoxia. FDA IND clearance has been obtained for intravenous and oral administration of pimonidazole HCl in clinical investigations. Over 1000 patients have now been entered in studies in the US, Canada and Europe.
