The vehicle posted speed limit throughout our neighborhood is 25 MPH.
The goal of this civic association of homeowners, renters and group homes of 275 homes with 16 named streets is to maintain and improve the private accessed Cherrydale lake, dam, playground and the front entrance island along with providing social activities, recommendations and solutions.
From the lake, dam & playground as you drive by or visit, we have seen weddings, graduation pictures, cookouts, pedal boats, Big Mouth Bass, Pickerel, Perch, electric only powered boats, canoes, foxes, deer, kayaks, snakes, turtles, bees, geese, ducks, skunks, Bald Eagles, Beaver, Osprey, Wallops Island space rocket launches, comets, meteors, satellites, the International Space Station and RIR fly overs, just to mention a few.
CCA is responsible for the insurance, electric, maintenance, preservation and regulations compliance of the lake, dam, playground and front entrance along Route 360. The Cherrydale lake is 14 acres in size built in 1968. The playground was added a couple years later.
The annual operating cost is currently at $7,400.00. This is funded by your annual dues requested from each resident’s address at $50.00 per year along with the annual access passes paid by nonresidents. The annual dues support check of $50.00 or $4.00 per month is payable & mailed to CCA, PO Box 52, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
A 4 million dollar Grant project to save our just over 50 year old lake & dam is ongoing to comply with the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, the EPA as well as restoring the dam bringing it up to current the Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation “DCR” certification standards for the next 50 to possibly 100 years. The estimated completion timeframe is the Summer of this year.
The next CCA meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday evening, 6:30PM, November 9th at the Mechanicsville Library. Only paid members can vote yet all are welcomed.
The Board of the Civic Association is voted into their position by up to date supporting members. The 2023 President is Bill Meeks (h) (804) 730-8814 or ©804-539-7409 and the Vice President is Steven Oakley at (804) 908-1555.
