I'm Chris Eppolito, Owner of Eppolito Signs. I started my professional Sign Making career in 1992. At that time, my father Sam Eppolito Jr. owned a sign company in Macedonia, Ohio, where I began at 18 years old. I was always interested in art and painting, Sign Making was a good fit for me. After 20 years of working in the sign industry, I was finally able to start my own business. Eppolito Signs was re-born, my grandfather, Sam Eppolito Sr. had originally started Eppolito Signs in the 1950's. Sam started his Sign Painting carrer shortly after WW2. In those days, signs were all hand-painted, something you don't see much of anymore. Hand lettering requires a steady hand, patience, and years of practice. Sam had a painting kit, which was passed on to me, that he worked out of for many years. The sign painter kit is basically a modified wooden tool box for brushes, rulers, charcoal pencils, snap line, grease pencils, razor blades, etc. Sam built this kit to a custom size so that he was able to stand on it and gold-leaf glass office doors downtown, Cleveland. This way he did not have to carry a small step-ladder. If you look closely, you can see the wear marks on the top from many years of standing on it.
