Broken Publications was founded in July of 2010 to help up and coming authors and poets have a more attainable publishing resource. We're unique in that we work directly with the writers on editing, book cover ideas and suggestions, and marketing ideas.
Keeping a more personal relationship with the writers makes it easier to ensure that everyone is happy with the services, publication, and help provided. This is extremely important as far as building credibility and respect for the company and its work.
Broken Publications is a hybrid publishing company. That means we took the best aspects of traditional publishing, self-publishing, and vanity publishing, and combined them into one company.
We offer non-exclusive contracts to our authors and poets, so if a major publisher chooses to purchase rights or approaches a writer for a more "traditional" book deal, the contract is easy to get out of. Most traditional publishers pay out a mere 8% to 15% royalty per copy sold, but we pay out a 40% net royalty to our writers.
If you don't want to sign a contract for your work, that's okay, too - we provide services for a reasonable fee including editing, book cover design, professional eBook conversions, consultation, and professional critiques.
Our latest endeavor is the Soul Vomit annual anthology. For 2012, the theme is domestic violence, and we're searching for submissions from anyone with first or second-hand experience with domestic violence, the strength it takes to survive it or to leave it, and artwork and photography to include in the book. The deadline for submissions this year is October 1st.
There's talk about a small literary magazine to be released quarterly as well, but this idea is still in the first stages of planning.
Broken Publications is a steadily growing company with a small number of signed authors so far consisting mainly of poets.
Are you an author or poet who wants to be published professionally but hasn't been accepted by a large publishing house? We might be able to publish you! You can submit your manuscript by visiting the Broken Publications web site at www.brokenpublications.com and using our submission manager to have us take a look at your manuscript.
You'll also find a link to submit to the Soul Vomit anthology, so if you have poetry, art, photography, stories, or an essay that would fit the theme of domestic violence, please submit your work to us! We look forward to reading it.
