Having an interest in the arts as a youth, Tom Sherbondy began his life long passion with clay by taking a pottery class at St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after graduating from Central Catholic High School. Learning about the materials and use of clay sparked a desire to explore this medium. To hone his skills as a pottery maker Tom, at age 40, joined the fine arts school that was located on Fort Wayne's West Berry St. about the time when it was starting to merge with IPFW. Twenty-four hour access to the arts department gave him a golden opportunity to experiment further with clays and glazes sharpening his techniques for creating unique sculptured pottery, which he now produces daily at his home on Sylvan Lake, and now at his studio in Howe, Indiana, at the Kingsbury Gallery.
After five years, it was time to move on to the art shows and fairs selling his clay creations. During his time at the art school, he gained recognition as a Clay Artist and was ready to expand his presence across the country.
