CSA, Community Supported Agriculture, consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation through the purchase of shares. By owning shares of the farms production, shareholders pledge in advance to cover anticipated costs of the farm operation, while allowing for the planning of shareholders needs for the growing season. In return they receive shares of the farms bounties throughout the growing season, as well as satisfaction from having re-connected to the land and participating directly in their own food production. Members also share in the risks of farming, such as pests, predators, and unfavorable weather. As we harvest weekly, even the worst weather or bugs only affects a very small portion of the overall harvest... if anything at all.
