Glide-on is a Colorado-based business founded in 2006 by Lin Alicia Martin. While working as a polymer chemist, in 2005, Lin was shown a unique formula for ski wax that included a polymer she had been producing and testing. Not a skier herself, she asked friends and co-workers to try the wax. They reported that it was superior to other hydrocarbon glide waxes on the market. The polymer is what makes the difference. It acts as a plasticizer, giving Glide-on more elasticity, durability, and speed, without adding toxic chemicals.
