Renergy facilities solve immediate problems of energy generation and organic waste management, both regionally and nationally. Utilizing a process known as Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Renergy repurposes residual agricultural, food, industrial and municipal waste from communities to create renewable electricity, renewable natural gas (RNG), soil nutrients and reclaimed water. Anaerobic Digestion is a natural process that breaks down organic materials in the absence of oxygen, which creates biogas that is captured and used as a fuel source to supply renewable energy. The captured biogas can also be purified and compressed into clean natural gas that can be used in place of traditional motor vehicle fuel. The company works closely with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is recognized by the AgSTAR program for making great strides in renewable energy and environmental awareness.
