The story of how Bk's Bakery began should be an example of how we never know where our path will take us...one thing just seems to lead to another.. Much of my childhood growing up in a small town was spent in my Grandmother Ruth's kitchen playing assistant chef.My Grandmother being the loving person that she was, would try all of my many concoctions, good or bad and then teach me the right way to make a a great tasting dish. Although my culinary skills as a pastry chef were not fine tuned untill later in life, I learned a great deal from my Grandmother Ruth and have her to thank for getting me started on the path to becoming a pastry chef. After my Grandmother had passed away, I took to cooking as a way to remember her and honor her. I would pull out all of the old family recipes and go thru them, I was so excited and so started to seek out recipes for the types of desserts that I had loved as a child. I started with basic recipes and found that I could improve on all of them.
