Our restaurant has been in existence since 1926 in Downtown New Roads, Louisianan, and though it is not the original building, Morel's has been serving food to customers since before your grandmother can remember. In 1950 a small cabin sat on the banks of beautiful False River, available for fishermen to rent for the weekend. Thereafter, in 1974, the area along the lake was developed and in 1983 the Morels, the owners of the cabin, turned the cabin into a "Bait Shop." The fishermen enjoyed the convenience of the "Bait Shop" so much that they requested that the owners also provide them with sandwiches and drinks to take on their fishing trips. The people of New Roads added their requests for hot soups and plate lunches, and Morel's Restaurant formed. Still on the banks of False River, in
