A private college named Comilla College was established in 1962 with the efforts of prominent educationists of the area, especially social worker Advocate Abul Khair, Advocate Sajedul Haque and prominent industrialist Mohammad Nurul Haque. With three tin shed buildings and an old one-storey administrative building, the college started its activities by admitting a total of 531 students in the eleventh science, humanities and commerce department.
