Dan's Carting & Recycling is privately owned and operated by Daniel Binder. Dan, a lifelong resident of Shelter Island, NY, started the garbage removal/recycling business in May 2004. He had noticed an unfulfilled need for a quality, local removal service and decided to fill the void. The Binder family values the close-knit community of the island and consistently contributes to local events and businesses. Dan began the Annual Earth Day Island Clean-up in 2006 to promote awareness of the environment and to pick up litter around the island. Each year volunteers gather, get assigned a route and spend most of the day cleaning up the beaches and roadsides.
