Founded in 1994 by Tom Burnell, Burnell Controls, Inc. is a full service building automation and energy management company specializing in the installation, integration, and service of building automation systems. Chris Schoonover joined Tom as his business partner in 1997, and together they lead an experienced team dedicated to ensuring that your mission critical building automation needs are met each and every day. ​ Soon after the partnership was formed, BCI participated in Honeywell’s Automation Control Specialist (ACS) program and quickly became recognized as one of the leading independent building automation control companies throughout the Boston area. ​ In 2002 Burnell Controls was honored to be selected by Honeywell and designated as an Authorized Controls Integrator (ACI) contractor. ACI contractors are members of a select elite group who have shown a commitment to product knowledge, engineering and service. ACI Contractors thus have access to Honeywell’s high end building enterprise solutions. During this time period BCI also invested in developing technical expertise in Johnson Controls products and have developed a long standing partnership with the local Johnson Controls Distributor. In 2005 Burnell Controls Inc. became a Vykon Systems Integrator (VSI). With our expertise in Honeywell, Johnson Controls and Vykon, we are able to utilize the power of the Niagara Framework to seamlessly integrate the three systems as well as many other third party systems. More recently we have also added Distech and Unified Lighting Controls to our arsenal of products and services. Today we are focused on building automation, system integration and energy management systems. We provide solutions through our open architecture “Total Comfort Solutions”. Open architecture ensures that controllers and applications run on a single platform while interoperating with each other.
