Psychotherapy Services
This practice focuses on working with adolescents, young adults and adults struggling with a variety of concerns, including: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, impulsivity, academic difficulties, anger management, relationship issues and family issues.
The therapeutic process begins with an initial assessment, where we will discuss your (or your child's) background and history. You will work with Laura to decipher the next best step in your treatment.
Following the assessment, you will begin to work with Laura on your personal exploration. The treatment process is goal-oriented and also allows for the individual to direct his or her treatment. You will identify your strengths and build upon those strengths. Laura utilizes talk therapy, art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to provide for a set of coping skills to aid in managing personal stressors.
In taking a holistic approach to treatment, Laura believes it is essential to involve a client’s family and school or work, if appropriate, as these areas often impact our lives. Family sessions can be conducted as needed, as well as collaboration with the client’s school or work. In addition, parent sessions are available separate from the client’s therapy.
