Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. provides the animal welfare focal point for all of Leavenworth County. -Conducts humane education for schools and community groups. -Provides spay/neuter services to reduce the number of homeless animals and enhance the health of homed animals. -Works to improve animal protection laws and their enforcement. -Assists in emergency planning and action for animals. -Cares compassionately for stray, abandoned and relinquished animals. -Re-homes adoptable animals with responsible owners and provides adoption follow-up. -Helps owners retain their pets by providing education and training assistance. -Partners with cities, the county, other rescues, shelters and animal welfare groups to create a humane county where people and animals want to live.
