The Sped (Special Education) Advocates mission is to Empower, Inform and Educate Parents/Guardians of Children with Special Needs within the Educational Arena. Trained Parent Consultants are familiar with Federal and State Special Education laws, and work to Empower Parents to become better Advocates for your Child(ren)/ the student by informing them about their rights (as Parents and member of the educational TEAM) and the importance of their participation and involvement of their child's education. Consultants typically review the students records and work with the TEAM to acquire specific services, program and instructional modifications, accommodations, and/or out-of-district placements that meet the individual needs of the student, in order for them to access the general curriculum.
